About Our Shop in Greenville, SC

Meet The Owners

Timothy Jacobs, Owner

Tim was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. His family immigrated to America in 1979 and immediately settled in Greenville, SC. His dad, Hennie, opened Greenville Transmission Clinic in 1979. Tim began cleaning parts at an early age and started learning to rebuild transmission at the ripe age of 13. After high school, he attended Greenville Technical College where he earned an Associates Degree in Automotive Technology. Tim attends seminars twice a year to get the up to date technology information. After many years in the family business, in 2010 he left to start his own business, The Tranny Man. Tim purchased Greenville Transmission Clinic from his dad in June 2014 and merged the two business together.

Tammy Jacobs, Owner

Tammy is a proud South Carolina native from Piedmont, SC. Tammy also attended Greenville Technical College and has an Associates Degree in Secretarial Science. Tammy is from a medical office/hospital background, but joined the family business in 1992 and worked full-time until 1995 and part-time until 2005. When Tim decided to open his own business in 2010, she joined him and together they work!

Tim and Tammy have been married since June 1991. They have four boys, Travis, Jared, Myles and Carson. Two of the four boys work in the business and the other two help out occasionally. It’s truly a family owned and operated business!

Certified Transmission Care For Our Community

Greenville Transmission Clinic Inc is a family-owned and operated shop with four generations of transmission and general repair experience. The shop got its start back in 1979 when Hennie and Yvonne Jacobs immigrated from South Africa to Greenville, bringing their repair business here with them. After enjoying a vacation during Christmas of 2013, Hennie and Yvonne decide it was time to retire after running the shop for over 30 years. Tim and Tammy purchased the business in June 2014 – bringing over their customer base from their previous shop, The Tranny Man – and have continued to provide quality transmission service to the Greenville community ever since!

Community Involvement

At Greenville Transmission Clinic Inc, our community involvement is something we hold very close to our hearts. The Greenville community has given so much to our family and our family’s business since we opened here in 1979, and we feel it’s our responsibility to give back to the people who have given so much to us. We support several Greenville schools around the shop, and sponsor local sports teams.

Blest with Wheels

One cause that is especially close to our hearts is Blest with Wheels – a nonprofit ministry that we run which is directly related to helping local families in need of assistance with transportation. Not owning a car is tough! Everyday things such as making it to work on time, shopping for groceries or picking up children from school can become difficult or nearly impossible without access to a car. Through the Blest with Wheels program, individuals or families who have sponsorship through a church are eligible to receive free auto repairs – or even obtain a vehicle. Blest with Wheels runs year-round, and we are always grateful for donations towards this cause – we will provide you with a receipt that may be used for a tax deduction. We also accept donated vehicles or monetary donations in exchange for a tax donation (501C3 status). Give us a call to learn more about how you can help Greenville families in need today.
